「もしもし」 - 彼岸空気をおすそわけ

＊「今回の誰そ彼ではご来場頂いたお客様に"busse posse issue"(ブッセ・ポッセ・イシュー)なるフリーペーパーを配布しました。それに寄稿した[彼岸ディスクレビュー]の原稿や、
そのアウトテイクをこちらでも掲載していこうと思います。

まずは、"そもそも彼岸音楽って何？"といった導入部分を説明する為のイントロダクションとして機能していた文章を載せて、この"ヒガンオンガク"という独自のカテゴリーに対する定義としたいと思います。▼

　●「もしもし」 - 彼岸空気をおすそわけ

　ブライアン・イーノがアンビエントミュージックの着想を得たという有名なエピソードがあります。病の床に臥していたイーノの元を訪れた友人が、18世紀のハープ音楽のレコードをお見舞いにと置いていきました。ベッドから動き出すのも困難だったイーノは苦労しながらもそのレコードに針を落としました。しかし、ステレオの片方のチャンネルは完全に死んでいて音量も僅か、それを修整する気力も残らぬイーノはその状況でレコードを"楽しみました"。そして新しい音楽の聴き方を発見したのです。
つまりそこでは聴く為の、行為の結果として鳴ったはずのレコードが生活の環境音と等しいただの空気の振動として捉えられたということ。イーノはこの概念をエクスペリメンタルなポピュラー・ミュージックに取り入れ、アンビエント･ミュージックを発明しました。

現在、"アンビエント"という言葉は"アンビエントミュージック"という、ジャンルとしての意味合いの他に"アンビエント感"という共感覚として、受け手にも送り手にも浸透しているようです。不定形でまるで水のようなこのタームは、何にでもフィットして機能性が高いので近頃では様々な場面で頻繁に使われているからです。この、構成要素としてのアンビエントはポピュラー・ミュージックの枠を超え、時代をも超え、クラシック音楽やワールド・ミュージックの中にさえも発見することが可能なのです。
そして実は、環境音等の"非音楽"の中にこそ多く"アンビエント感"は含まれています。日々の暮らしの中で、私達の耳には多分な情報量の音が入ってくるはずです。それらは全て［環境雑音(ambient noize)］として処理され意識的に耳を傾ける人は居ないでしょう。しかし凪になら、肌理細やかな波を見つけ易いはずです。絶対的な情報量が少ない時に、特に浮かび上がってくる［日常音］［環境音］などの［非音楽］それらはランダムやミニマル等とも作用して所謂アンビエント感を齎してくれるのです。

ブライアン・イーノの先例にもあるように、非音楽も、音楽と並列に位置している状態こそが"アンビエント"なのですから、お寺は"アンビエント"を体験するにうってつけなのではないでしょうか。イーノははじめにアンビエントミュージックを「静けさと、考える為の空間を作り出す音楽」と定義していますが、お寺もまた「静けさと、考えるための空間」としての機能を一面として携えているからです。
私達が手にしている"アンビエント感"というものは少々煩わしい横の壁を取払う為の手助けとなってくれています。全ての音と音を繋ぐ架け橋になっているとしても過言では無いでしょう。
つまり、大袈裟かもしれませんが、範囲は全音楽。この星全体の音がフラットに存在しているかのようなイメージ。
昼と夜、此岸と彼岸、日常と非日常、音楽と非音楽
全ての境界線は曖昧で自由な往来は困難だったはずなのですが、それぞれの中間にはぼんやりと「誰そ彼」が存在しているのです。▼
